Spring time!! ketchup!

This is just alittle bit of what i have been up to as of late
the spring time mix is just some of the music that I've been listening to lately. my new favorite band is MGMT they are a two piece out of Brooklyn NY. supper fun indy/dance shit, it gets me really stoked for the summer/ hanging out with friends/road trips. the new dead meadow is on this mix and i'm a huge fan of theirs but i have a few things to say about it. this new album is really good and all but i feel they took a more alternative rock approach. which isn't a bad thing but i m like "what happened? are they trying to make more money by attacking a new crowd?" thats all good and fine, but they don't jam as hard on this one as they have in the past, and homes sings a lot more. i guess thats what i really love about them was the jamming. they still totally shred, they are still making killer music. don't get me wrong. i'd just rather hear their signature sound.
last month i quit my job of 3 years in Berkeley to get a much better job a a way cooler salon in SF. i am making twice as much money and have more freedom then ever before.
i am playing music out of my house and making designs for t-shirts and i am in the middle of creating distortion peddles casings out of natural materials. that pretty much
raps it up for me. this page is an example of sound and vision.

IRON BUTTERFLY

This is one of the most heavily psychedelic acid rock bands around. Iron butterfly was one of the first rock bands to get extensive airplay all because of the 17min epic "in-a-gadda-da-vida". In 1966 band leader Doug Ingle and drummer Ron Bushy, writers of the track, formed the first incarnation of Iron Butterfly in San Diego. They then moved to L.A. and became hip to the club scene and not long after they landed a record contract and went on to do tours with bands such as the Doors and Jefferson Starship.
In 1968 the debut album Heavy was released.
Original members Jerry Penrod (bass), Darryl DeLoach (vocals), and Danny Weis (guitar) left the band and were replaced by guitarist Erik Braunn and bassist Lee Dorman. Weis went on to join Rhinoceros.
The follow-up album Ball, blew peoples minds and went gold and basically the band went down the drain and broke up in 1971.
A total drag.

This is MY year! earth RAT!

I stumbled across this on Astrology.com and was totally shocked as to how right on this was. Its not even 2 weeks into January and things are already starting to change. Then i read this and its like i m reading parts of my life that i m living currently, and its creepy, but in a good way.

This has nothing to do with music but i thought it was pretty cool.

"After two Fire years, life may seem calmer during this Earth year. That could be deceptive, however, as the Rat never stops moving -- especially when it comes to mental activity.

Unfortunately, Earth has a destructive relationship with the Rat's fixed element, Water. This is not disastrous, but it does mean you should not rely too much on luck this year.

On the other hand, the combination of Earth and Rat means this is extremely positive year for achieving results. The Rat tends to take a lot of risks, while Earth is associated with practicality and stability. This creates balance and can lead to good profits, increased productivity and all other accomplishments. Additionally, under Earth's influence there could be fewer scandals than in other, Rat, years.

The Rat is the first sign of the Chinese zodiac and signifies new beginnings. That makes this year an appropriate time to start new ventures and break new ground. This includes new ideas, directions and ways of doing things. It is a time to experiment and put plans into action, as there will be plenty of opportunities to achieve success. Remember that things began during this year are likely to have long term consequences, so choose your actions wisely to enrich your life.

This year is also an equally good time for thinking and all manner of intellectual endeavors. Planning, scholarship and research, for example, are favorable activities. It is also an auspicious time for the arts; although, under Earth's influence, applied arts such as design and graphics may do best.

Earth favors those who are tied to the land, do a lot of routine work, deal with practical matters or perform work of a spiritual nature. Based on the characteristics of both Earth and Rat, it could be a very good year for those with careers in business, construction, engineering, academia, planning and the clergy.

There is likely to be a focus on career and self-improvement this year, to the detriment of family. Therefore, you need to be attentive and creative so that the family area of your does not suffer. It is, however, a relatively good time to begin a new romance. Those in a relationship may want to consider raising it to the next level, including marriage.

Since this is an Earth year, those people born in a Metal year will generally fare better than others of their animal sign, while those born in a Water year are likely to do worse than those born in Wood, Fire, and Earth years.

Health issues vary not only by sign, but also by individual. Your best bet is to visit a Chinese doctor to have your balances checked and get personalized advice for the coming year. It is an Earth year, so one thing we can say in general is to get enough exercise and be on the alert for unwanted weight gains. Inactivity could lead to problems.

In closing, 2008 will be a year of possibilities, a time of progress -- although not very spectacular. Those who take the biggest risks could be disappointed. Everyone should, nevertheless, add something new to their life during this year of fruitful new beginnings."

Death To False Classic Rock...

This is a mix tape that my friend jimmy made for me a long time ago. i had briefly mentioned it in a previous post but this mix was particularity one i didn't want to stop listening to. i think that all the songs on this is a great introduction to classic rock for anyone. Side A was labeled "play loud..." and side B was labeled "or don't". jimmy gave this tape to me as a going away gift over 5 years ago. its been in 12 different stats and i think it fell out of my car somewhere in California.

i just recently came across the case and read the tracks and remembered how good it was. i had to remake this mix and i found all the songs but one which was an oldie but a goodie, "ill never forget" by the candymen. great song, classic 50s/60s (i think) rock ballad. the only place i could find it was for sale on ebay for a lot of money. the rest of the songs are quite enjoyable and should be able to download here. if here are any problems let me know.

Be prepared... it will psych your mind!! this mix is one mix that i have been listening to for the past week and cant get enough of it. Also some old Hendrix, blue cheer, and more for your listening pleasure.

2. Sun cycle - Blue Cheer

A monthly online mix tape....

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I have no idea how to upload music for you all to download, so here is an alternative way to sample some of the tunes that i am currently rocking. i should get paid to promote this site. fuck it I'm stoked!!box.com

A few days ago i was thinking about how rad it was to get a mix tape from a friend or make one for them. my friend jimmy made the BEST! mix tapes ever! for me they were the gateways into the music world that i was not a part of. each mix was so different and creative and supplied a soundtrack to my younger years. from metal/power violence to idny/punk to easy going classic rock they were loved equally the same. I lost a few over the years and wished that i was a little more careful with my things but the ones i still have i listened to so much i don't know how they even play. in conclusion to my ramble, this cyber world in which we live is making the art of the mix tape nonexistent and it totally sucks. we can either bring them back or do the internet thing. which in this case i went the web route. OCT.MIX UP NOW!:)

Vanilla Fudge

Ok, so i just got back Tuesday from a six day trip to Seattle for a Sarah's sisters wedding and man was it a blast. On the way north i stopped in yreaka ca. this town is smaller than small. the thrift stores were too. I don't have much luck with finding records that i want and when i do they are totally thrashed. I came across a few gems ...Vanilla Fudge vanilla fudge Renaissance was one of em. they do a really RAD version of Donovan's "season of the witch" The guitar slays my thoughts leaving them to then be melted by the distant rippling vocals and various sound scape. listening to this album makes me feel like i took a hit of LSD. If you've heard this one before you know what i mean. one of my personal favorites.

THIRD MOVEMENT
